Donax trunculus (abrupt wedge shell, wedge clam), is a bivalve species in the family Donacidae. It is native to the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts of western Europe. It is locally known as tellin, tellina, telline or "tenille" in French, tellina or coquina in Spanish, and conquilha or cadelinha in Portuguese, Um El-Kholol in Egypt, and is consumed as a food in these countries. There is a very similar shellfish in Australia locally known as "Pippies"
